Continuing in the area of Planning & Environment, Kirsty commenced with King & Company in 2005 providing commercial and litigation advice to our local government clients. As a Senior Associate, Kirsty’s expertise spans the firm’s Commercial & Property group and the Insurance & Dispute Resolution group. With expertise and experience in various areas within these two groups, including professional indemnity and public liability claims, defamation and building and construction disputes, Kirsty specialises in the area of Councillor conduct (general conduct, including conflicts of interest). In this area, Kirsty provides general advice to local government clients and Councillors and provides advice in relation to, and defence of, complaints being investigated by the Office of the Independent Assessor and matters referred to the Councillor Conduct Tribunal.
“What I find to be most rewarding, both professionally and personally, is the ability to deal with, and have a positive impact on, real people in relation to real issues that are not only directly pertinent to an individual or local government client but also pertinent to our broader society.
“Local government is about you, me, us all - it touches every one of us, no matter what role we play in society and how we contribute. I consider it a privilege to be working alongside our local government clients in such an environment and at a firm whose strength lies in understanding what a client wants, needs and how to best achieve it.
“Drawing from a wealth of knowledge and expertise, built literally over more than one hundred years, King & Company is a group of highly talented and dedicated practitioners, of which I am proud to be a part.”
Kirsty holds a current practising certificate from the Queensland Law Society.
