Local Government Law
Commerce & Contract
We regularly provide advice to our local government clients about the Local Government Act 2009 (and regulations) dealing with making contracts, including the requirements to invite tenders and obtain quotes.
Practical examples of procurement projects we’ve worked on include:
- reviewing waste collection and/or recyclables processing/bulk haulage tenders;
- reviewing a regional Council’s roads and drainage infrastructure reconstruction tender;
- the expression of interest and subsequent tender documents for the installation of water and sewer mains for another regional Council.
We’ve also got the full range of other arrangements, agreements and contracts covered including:
- establishment and operation of major sewage treatment plants and similar capital works;
- upgrading and extensions of Council-owned runways for jet aircraft for fly-in, fly-out employment;
- commercial agreements for the supply of potable water and sale of reusable water;
- contracts for the management of Council property such as pools, caravan parks and cemeteries;
- mining compensation agreements.
